Rolex Oyster Perpetual 1002 Pink Gold

very rare rose gold version - elegant sunburst dial

Description
The special factor of this elegant Rolex Oyster Perpetual 1002 from the 1960s is its rose gold case. Most examples of the Oyster Perpetual from the 1950s/60s were made of stainless steel. The yellow gold models were much rarer. An Oyster Perpetual in a rose gold case is an utmost rarity.

The model name "Oyster Perpetual" contains two pioneering innovations from Rolex. "Oyster" refers to the hermetically sealed, waterproof case and "Perpetual" to the self-winding movement. During the famous Mount Everest expedition in 1953, Sir John Hunt's team was equipped with Rolex Oyster Perpetual watches. The Oyster Perpetual was the cornerstone for most Rolex timepieces. Today, the lettering "Oyster Perpetual" can be found on almost every Rolex dial.

This Oyster Perpetual reference 1002 is a very elegant timepiece from the 1960s. The 34mm rose gold case houses a perfectly balanced silver-colored sunburst dial. The long rose gold hour markers are particularly beautiful and provide a rich contrast to the dial. Lovers of detail will also notice the fine minute track, the discreet dauphine hands and the luminous dots at each hour marker.

This Oyster Perpetual is even more valuable because of its original accessories. The movement number of the watch can be seen on the original watch rate certificate issued on 9 September 1965. The original Rolex chronometer guarantee shows the date of sale: 22 December 1968, and the old original Rolex box is also present.
