Omega Cosmic Moonphase 2485 Rose Gold - Extra Large

Dating to the late 1940's, this Omega Cosmic Calendar watch is the epitome of Omega's elegant and complicated vintage watches.

The Omega Cosmic was produced between 1947 and 1956 and was one of the most exclusive watches the brand had to offer. The calendar watch was available with a small (35mm) and a large diameter (37.5mm). The latter variant back then was a very unusual wristwatch due to its size. And that's why it's so popular today. The Cosmic was also available in different case materials. Here you can see a Cosmic reference 2485 in rose gold with a large diameter.

A weak point of the Omega Cosmic moonphase is the dial. Due to great age, most dials are either in very poor condition or have been replaced with service dials. The dial of this watch is not perfect either, but it is 100% original and is in very good condition. Of course, the dial has a few flaws at 12 and 2 o'clock, but a 70-year-old watch is allowed to have these signs of aging making it very honest. The authentic patina provides a unique vintage look.

The watch offers a classic and balanced dial layout. The sub-dial with the moonphase is at 6 o'clock. A special thing is the small second hand that runs over the moonphase. The date display, consisting of blue numbers all around the rim of the dial and a blue central hand, is also unusual. The weekday and month indicators are located below the Omega logo at 12 o'clock. The elegant hour markers and the leaf hands are made of rose gold.

The rose gold case is in excellent condition and still has its full diameter of 37.5mm. The two gold hallmarks on the lug and on the side of the case are still deeply engraved. The winding crown is original and shows the Omega logo. All numbers inside the case back are intact.

The Omega is powered by the caliber 381. This manual-wound movement was developed by Lemania. All functions have been checked and operate perfectly. The calendar functions can be adjusted quickly and easily using the openings on the side of the case.

90% of the old Omega Cosmic Moonphase watches either do not have an original dial or the original dial is in very poor condition. This makes this all original specimen a real collector's treasure.
