This rare and unusual Audemars Piguet 5093 Gerald Genta design watch comes from the 1950s and is preserved in TOP condition.
Disco Volante means "flying saucer" and is the Italian synonym for a UFO. The unusual design of this watch comes from the famous case designer Gerald Genta, who developed the "Disco Volante" in collaboration with Audemars Piguet in 1953. The flat profile, which was only possible thanks to the ultra-thin AP caliber 2003 movement, is absolutely astonishing. The wide fluted bezel and eggshell-colored dial create a striking look. The traces of oxidation on the bezel are proof that the watch was rarely worn and is therefore in excellent condition.
We love the fine gold-colored galvanic print on the dial, which creates a magical sight when you look at the watch in the light.
The next rare feature of this vintage watch is the original leather strap, which is attached under the bezel and therefore requires no lugs. This creates an unusually clear, symmetrical appearance. The strap is very soft, feels very pleasant on the skin and still has the original Audemars Piguet gold clasp.
