This rare and remarkable Rolex Datejust 1601 dates back to 1965 and captivates with its absolutely perfect gilt door stop dial and the charming aesthetics created by the black and gold combination.

A highly coveted feature of this watch is the black gilt dial. These special dials, that were mainly produced in the 1950s and 1960s, are characterized by their gold-colored prints and a deep black, glossy surface. The combination of gold lettering and black background is very attractive and offers a special vintage charm, which is further enhanced by the natural ageing and patina of the luminous material and the cream-colored date disc.

Further it is the much-loved "door stop" dial with large, rectangular indices at 6 and 9 o'clock, reminiscent of door stops. Like the rest of the markers, they are made of gold and their size makes it easier to read the time.

Case: 18 carat yellow gold - very slight signs of wear/storage - intact gold hallmarks - reference number 1601 and serial number 1128xxx clearly legible between the lugs - correct engravings and gold hallmarks inside the case back - Rolex Twinlock crown.

Bezel: perfectly preserved fluted 18-carat yellow gold bezel.
