This colorful Heuer Autavia 2446C from the 1970s is one of the most sought-after Heuer vintage watches. This is due to its unique design, the GMT chronograph combination, its robust movement and its rarity. Add to this the fine and honest original condition of this particular example and you have a very collectible vintage Heuer timepiece and a truly rare find.

The Autavia 2446C GMT is a special version of the famous Autavia chronograph line introduced by Heuer in the 1960s. In addition to the chronograph complication, the GMT version features a rotating 24-hour bezel and an additional red 24-hour hand to indicate a second time zone, which was particularly useful for international travelers.

The watch has a perfectly proportioned 40mm case with a beautiful red and blue bezel to indicate day and night hours respectively. The letter "C" in the reference 2446C refers to the compressor case. This special type of case was developed to improve water resistance. Unlike a screwed case, the intelligent compressor case uses the water pressure to its advantage and compresses the seals tighter as the water pressure increases, thereby increasing the water resistance.

Wearing this Autavia on the wrist will attract curious glances. The high-contrast reverse panda dial with its colorful look is a real eye-catcher. The Valjoux 724 movement is very reliable and robust. It is not for nothing that this Autavia is one of the most frequently worn watches on the wrists of Heuer collectors.
