Description
As the first automatic GMT version of the Autavia, this Heuer Autavia 1163 GMT marks the beginning of a new era in Heuer's rich history, characterised by technical innovation and distinctive design.

Introduced in 1969, Calibre 11, a revolutionary automatic chronograph movement, found its place not only in the legendary Monaco, but also in models such as the Carrera and the Autavia. However, the Autavia reference 1163 GMT stands out in particular: it combines a chronograph with a GMT complication, ideal for travellers and adventurers.

The super rare MK1 version, which was only produced for around one year, has continuous 1-through-12 numbering on the red and blue bezel - a feature that distinguishes it from later models. This early version was replaced by the MK2, which only has even numbers on the bezel. Finding an MK1 in good condition is one of the biggest challenges for collectors of classic vintage Heuer watches.

We love the harmonious color palette of this GMT. The gently faded bezel shows subtle tones that evolved gracefully over decades of natural light exposure, showcasing a beautiful and authentic patina. The striking reverse panda dial offers a lively contrast and remains in excellent condition. With its vibrant yellow GMT hand and the rotating bezel, this timepiece effortlessly enables the simultaneous reading of two time zones.

The sporty, elegant look is perfectly complemented by the cushion-shaped stainless steel case and a rare Gay-Frères stainless steel bracelet. The bracelet, featuring the "Single Grain Beads of Rice" design, is a highlight in its own right and is just as prized by collectors as the watch itself. Bearing the engraving "4/71," denoting its production in the fourth quarter of 1971, it adds even more exclusivity to this collector's watch.
