This rare Nimer chronograph from the 1950s features a fascinating multicolored dial in a distinctive Spillman case with inverted pushers.
Nimer was a subsidiary of the renowned Mulco Watches SA, founded in 1936 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, which produced high-quality watches until the 1970s. Like many other Swiss watch brands, Mulco - and with it Nimer - fell victim to the quartz crisis of the 1980s.
This exceptional model from the 1950s is a rare find, especially because of its striking three-register dial. The so-called multicolor dial features a red telemeter scale and a blue tachymeter scale, while its natural patina beautifully reflects the age and character of this chronograph.
The generously sized 38mm case is one of the famous Spillman cases, recognizable by its distinctive beveled lugs. Founded in 1861 in Zurich, Switzerland, Spillmann specialized in the production of high-quality watch cases that were used by many prestigious watchmakers.
Another outstanding feature of this chronograph is its extremely rare inverted pushers, which add a touch of technical refinement. Inside, the watch is powered by the reliable hand-wound Valjoux 71 caliber, renowned for its precision and reliability.
This Nimer chronograph is also featured in the renowned book "FERO - 150 Steel Chronographs", further highlighting its significant collector's value and historical importance (see images).
