Vetta Ermetico Chronograph 5347 Salmon Dial

This vintage Vetta chronograph reference 5347 dates from the 1940s and has a stunning and ultra rare salmon dial.

Vetta was a Wyler brand developed specifically for the Italian market. This Vetta chrono proudly bears Italian inscriptions such as "Cronografo" and "Ermetico". This watch was one of the first chronographs to feature a waterproof snap-back case, and its hermetically sealed back earned it the nickname "Ermetico". The waterproof chronographs of the 1940s heralded a new era in watchmaking and had a lasting influence on the design of the following decades.

The word "Impermeable" is engraved on the back of the 38 mm case next to the reference 5347, indicating that the case is water-resistant. The watch already had the large round pushers designed to improve water resistance, an innovative feature for chronographs at the time.

The salmon-colored dial with its harmonious composition of red telemeter scale and blue tachymeter scale is an absolute rarity. The beautiful patina that has developed over the decades underscores the authenticity and irreplaceable charm of this timepiece. And then there are the blue shimmering metallic hands that further enliven the dial.

Inside, the Valjoux 22 beats, a precise and robust chronograph movement renowned for its longevity.

Dial: excellently preserved salmon two-register dial - light natural patina - intact blue tachymeter and red telemeter scales.

Case: 38mm stainless steel case - intact lines and edges - slight signs of wear - snap-on back - deep engravings on the back: "Impermeable Acier Stavbrite" and the reference number 5347 - correct unsigned crown.

Movement: hand-wound Valjoux 22 caliber - signed "VETTA" - values on the timegrapher: rate: -15s/day, amplitude: 251, beat error: 0.2. Chronograph starts, stops and resets perfectly.

Bracelet: elegant vintage-style Fab-P-Eyes stainless steel bracelet - very comfortable on the wrist thanks to its low weight.
