The legendary family of Carrera self-winding watches was expanded in 1972 with the introduction of the Reference 1553. While the predecessor Reference 1153 was powered by the Caliber 11, the new models were equipped with the advanced Caliber 15. A striking feature of these caliber 15 models is the small seconds hand, which is unconventionally positioned at 10 o'clock.

The model presented here, the Heuer Carrera 1553N, bears the letter "N" (Noire) in the reference, which refers to the dark blue dial. It features a dynamic contrast: a silver horizontal stripe with the model name "Carrera" runs from left to right up to the 30-minute counter. The metallic dial surface shimmers in nuanced shades of blue, sometimes lighter, sometimes darker, depending on the incidence of light. The orange chrono seconds hand adds a beautiful accent.

Heuer's close association with motorsport is reflected in this model: the blue, silver and orange are the iconic colors of the Martini Racing Team, one of the most successful racing teams of its time.

Caliber 15 automatic Carreras are among the rarest models in the Heuer Carrera line and are highly sought after by collectors. Dial: perfect blue dial - all scratches that can be seen in the pictures are on the glass and not on the dial - original matching tritium luminous material in the hands and markers - signed "swiss".
