This exceptional IWC Ingenieur Ref. 666AD dates from the mid-1950s and is one of the earliest versions of this legendary model. Of particular note is the rare black dial - a variant that was only produced in small numbers and is now highly sought after by collectors.
The Ingenieur was introduced by IWC Schaffhausen in 1954 as a wristwatch for scientists, engineers and doctors - designed for use in demanding technical conditions. The focus was on durability, resistance and, above all, anti-magnetic properties. The lightning bolt logo on the dial is a symbol of this functionality.
The long fluted baton hour markers and the striking Dauphine hands give the dial a clear and elegant look. The original, evenly aged cream-colored luminous material preserved in the hour markers and hands is particularly beautiful. It provides a warm, harmonious contrast to the dark dial and underscores the authentic vintage character of the watch.
In addition to its rarity, the Ingenieur is particularly impressive due to its remarkably good original condition.
The ensemble is completed by the original Gay Frères stainless steel bracelet, a real highlight for collectors. It gives the watch its unmistakable vintage look and contributes significantly to its collector's value.
