We are pleased to offer this exceptional and extremely rare Vacheron Constantin 4526 dresswatch from 1951 with its distinctive "claw" lugs and remarkably well-preserved dial in an 18k pink gold case.
With a diameter of 36 mm, the watch was considered a bold statement at the time. Thanks to the narrow bezel, it looks even larger and feels more like a 38mm model on the wrist. The flat profile and sculptural "claw" lugs also contribute to its striking appearance.
The silver-colored dial is impeccably preserved and embodies classic elegance in its purest form. A fine minute scale on the outer edge gives the dial a balanced and clear appearance. The applied Arabic numerals in rose gold are a particular highlight - a design choice rarely found on watches of this era, as simple baton markers were usually used.
The pink gold case was much rarer than the more common yellow gold versions. It is estimated that only a few hundred examples of this model were produced - and only about 10 to 20 percent in pink gold compared to the yellow gold version.
Of interest to collectors is the "key" hallmark on the case back of this watch: the so-called "Geneva Key No. 4" - the hallmark of renowned case maker Antoine Gerlach, who is best known for his early precious metal cases for the legendary Patek Philippe Calatrava Reference 96. In addition, the manufactory also supplied renowned brands such as Vacheron Constantin, Omega (especially the Constellation series) and other important manufacturers with high-quality precious metal cases. One of Gerlach's characteristic features is a waterproof snap-on case back.
This Vacheron Constantin is much more than a watch - it is a timeless symbol of style, taste and watchmaking mastery. It is a piece of history that will endure for generations and will never lose its fascination because of its aesthetics and rarity.
