This is Yema's legendary motorsport chronograph, reference 606.737, from the 1960s – preserved in great original condition.
In the 1960s, the French watchmaker Yema, founded in 1948, introduced a series of motorsport chronographs that stood out for their distinctive and bold designs. A particularly striking feature: the sub-dials are reminiscent of the dashboards of classic racing cars.
The model presented here is the sought-after reference 606.737, with its subdials embedded in a textured Formica-style panel – hence the collector's nickname "Formica". The same warm brown tone appears in the date window at six o'clock. Two checkered flags on the dial highlight the connection to the world of racing. A black bakelite bezel with an integrated tachymeter scale completes the sporty overall appearance.
The striking case measures 39 mm in diameter and features sharp lines and prominent lugs. The watch shows honest signs of wear but appears unpolished – a condition we particularly value, as it preserves the watch’s authenticity and makes it ideal for regular wear.
Inside ticks the reliable and proven hand-wound Valjoux 7734 caliber – renowned for its reliability and robustness.
Today's reissue of the Yema Rallye chronograph has brought renewed attention to the original – making this rare vintage model from the 1960s even more desirable among collectors of distinctive chronographs.
