This Universal Genève White Shadow is an ultra-thin quartz watch from the 1970s that combines distinctive retro design with stylish elegance.
At the 1975 Basel Watch Fair, Universal Genève unveiled the Caliber 74 – at just 3.45 mm, it was the thinnest quartz movement in the world at the time. It belonged to the brand’s "Shadow" collection, known for its exceptionally slim cases. While models with precious metal cases were named "Golden Shadow", the stainless steel versions were called "White Shadow".
This striking watch comes in a large rectangular stainless steel case measuring 38 x 35 mm, giving it a noticeable presence on the wrist. At the same time, its slim profile keeps the overall look elegant and understated.
The silver dial with a fine sunburst finish enhances the watch's classic charm. Long, slender hour markers and hands create a clean and timeless aesthetic.
A nice bonus for collectors: the watch still has its rare, original Universal Genève leather strap – something that’s rarely found, as leather wears out much faster than metal.
All in all, a characterful vintage quartz timepiece whose elegant retro charm is sure to capture the heart of any style-conscious watch enthusiast.
