Here we present one of the most legendary pilot chronographs of the vintage era: the Breitling AVI 765 with the highly sought-after reverse-panda dial – an impressive timepiece that masterfully unites history, engineering and design at the highest level.

Originally introduced in the 1950s, the reference 765 AVI ("Aviation") was specifically developed for pilots – with a clear focus on legibility, durability and functionality. A particularly distinctive feature is the 15-minute counter at 3 o'clock inspired by the standard 15-minute pre-flight check, making it a signature element of this model.

The example offered here dates from the early 1960s and showcases the striking reverse-panda dial. A black base with white sub-dials, generously sized luminous hands and hour markers – a true icon of functional design, beautifully complemented by a naturally aged patina that enhances its authenticity. The bi-color rotating bezel and round pump pushers reinforce the masculine, instrument-like character of this 41mm stainless steel chronograph.

A charming detail on the side: this model is often referred to as the "Raquel Welch" – named after the actress who wore a 765 AVI in the 1967 film Fathom. A pop-cultural footprint that gives this pilot's watch even more character.
