This impressive Movado M95 chronograph dates back to the 1940s.
The absolute highlight of this watch is its ultra-rare black galvanic dial in flawless condition. It features three beautifully preserved subdials, an outer tachymeter scale and the sought-after "Anti-Magnetic" signature. The silver-printed elements are exceptionally crisp and contrast sharply against the deep black background – a rare and striking combination further enhanced by the warm, even patina on the luminous numerals.
The 33 mm case was manufactured by the renowned casemaker François Borgel, confirmed by the characteristic FB hallmark inside the case. Thanks to its screw-down construction, substantial thickness and bold pushers, the watch wears significantly larger than its diameter would suggest.
A standout feature are the so-called "tasti tondi" pushers – large, radially fluted chronograph buttons reminiscent of those found on the legendary Patek Philippe reference 1463. They give the watch a sporty yet elegant look and feel great to use.
Inside ticks the legendary Movado calibre M95 – in this rare version with an additional 12-hour counter. As with the M90 sibling movement, the operating logic is unconventional: the lower pusher starts and stops the chronograph, while the upper resets it – the reverse of most traditional chronographs.
Completing the ensemble is an original vintage steel bracelet with a striking link design – a fitting match for this remarkable piece of horological history.
An ultra-rare collector's item in outstanding condition – technically intriguing, visually stunning and historically important.
