Here we present a rare and impressive vintage pilot's chronograph: the Breitling Chronomatic Ref. 2115 GMT from 1970. With its exceptionally large 48 mm case, colorful dial design and the legendary automatic Caliber 11 movement with integrated GMT function, it is one of the highlights of this watch.
In the 1960s, Breitling was a pioneer in chronographs. In 1969, the brand, together with Heuer, Hamilton, and Büren, introduced the first automatic chronograph movement, the Caliber 11 – a milestone in watchmaking history. Breitling dedicated this groundbreaking development to the new model line "Chrono-Matic" distinguished by its striking and unmistakable design. Some references were additionally equipped with a GMT complication, allowing the simultaneous reading of two time zones – as in this model.
The dial is a true eye-catcher: bold orange hour, minute and chronograph hands, a yellow GMT hand, and contrasting sub-dials. The inner rotating 24-hour bezel shows daytime and nighttime hours in light and dark segments. This combination gives the watch a sporty and dynamic appearance.
The large stainless-steel case and the dial are preserved in excellent condition – an indication that the watch was only rarely worn. Reference and serial numbers are clearly visible on the case back.
The set includes:
- original yellow Breitling box
- warranty booklet stamped with reference number 2115
- instruction manual
- NATO strap in matching colors.
On the wrist, this Breitling Chronomatic GMT impresses with its cool, sporty look. For collectors, it is a desirable and rare piece – a characterful time capsule of the 1970s.
