Description
This exceptionally rare Longines reference 4813 from the 1940s ranks among the most captivating chronographs of its era. At its heart beats the legendary flyback chronograph movement Longines caliber 13ZN – one of the most technically and historically significant watch movements of the 20th century. To this day, it stands as a symbol of precision, elegance and horological engineering at its finest.

The attractive two-tone dial impresses with its harmonious color balance and evenly aged, warm patina. The Arabic numerals are filled with their original luminous material, forming together with the finely printed minute track and sub-dials a perfectly balanced and authentic appearance. The blued steel hands, also retaining their original lume, complete the watch's coherent and untouched aesthetic.

The distinctive stainless-steel case, measuring 35 mm in diameter – already large for its time – shows sharp edges and well-preserved lines. The slim, polished stepped bezel enhances the visual presence of the watch on the wrist. A further hallmark of early Longines engineering is the caseback with two notches, designed as leverage points to make opening the case easier.

On the caseback, the serial number matches exactly the one on the movement, and a two-digit waterproof pairing number can also be found on the back of the lug. Longines used these numbers to ensure that each case and caseback were perfectly matched during assembly – a testament to the brand's meticulous production standards and early attention to water resistance.

Overall, this reference 4813 brings together technical sophistication, aesthetic harmony and great rarity – a combination sure to impress even the most discerning collectors. Its outstanding originality and the subtle elegance of the dial make this example a truly remarkable representative of Longines golden era.
