This rare pilot’s chronograph from the early days of chronograph history, produced in the 1940s, embodies the pure essence of classic tool watches – functional, authentic and full of character.
The absolute highlight is the exceptional dial: the rare snail scale is already a rarity in itself, but finding it executed in red is particularly uncommon. It is complemented by an equally red telemeter scale, adding depth and a strong, instrument-like aesthetic to the dial. Despite the wealth of information, the harmonious layout ensures a surprisingly clear and well-balanced appearance.
With its generous 38 mm case, this chronograph was distinctly oversized for its era. The pronounced stepped bezel, together with the diameter and the high-contrast dial, creates an impressive wrist presence – sporty, masculine, and unmistakably vintage.
Equally noteworthy is the excellent state of preservation, especially considering the watch is over 80 years old. It is a testament to how carefully this timepiece has been treated over the decades.
Inside beats the proven and reliable Valjoux 22 caliber, one of the legendary chronograph movements of its time and still admired today for its robustness and classic construction.
In short:
The look is simply super cool – a true 1940s pilot’s chronograph with soul, presence and genuine rarity.
