This exceptional Vacheron Constantin Ref. 4591 "Tegola" stands as a compelling testament to the uncompromising exclusivity of Vacheron Constantin – one of the world’s oldest watch manufactures, long admired for its in-house, high-grade movements and its cultivated, sophisticated design language.
Launched in 1949, reference 4591 embodies the elegant spirit of the 1950s and early 1960s with its generous yet harmonious proportions. The unmistakable silhouette of the rectangular case is defined by gently tapering case sides combined with a faceted crystal. Among vintage collectors, this distinctive shape is known as the "Tegola", named after the Italian word for sloping roof tiles.
The case of the present 1950s example is crafted in white gold and houses an elegant silver dial adorned with diamond-set indices and a subtly integrated small seconds subdial. Completing the ensemble is the original red Vacheron Constantin presentation box from the period – a rare and highly desirable accompaniment.
This vintage Vacheron Constantin 4591 combines technically sophisticated design with an extraordinary, almost sculptural aesthetic. Stylish, unconventional, and exceptionally rare, its outstanding condition makes it a truly compelling collector’s piece.
