Description
This Zenith El Primero Ref. A782 Defy is a very rare chronograph from the early 1970s and ranks among the most characterful executions of the legendary El Primero family.

Housed in a chunky tonneau-shaped case, this reference perfectly captures the sporty and progressive spirit of its era. The bold lines, integrated lugs and distinctive case design give the watch a confident and unmistakable presence on the wrist.

The undisputed highlight is the exceptional turquoise dial. Combined with the silver-toned subdials, it creates a fascinating color contrast that gives the watch depth, dynamism and an almost futuristic appearance. The bold applied hour markers, luminous hands, and the red chronograph seconds hand ensure excellent legibility while adding sporty accents. Depending on the light, the dial reveals a vivid play of colors that defines the unique appeal of this reference.

Inside beats the legendary El Primero caliber 3019PHC - one of the very first automatic chronograph movements in watchmaking history. With its high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour, it remains a benchmark for exceptional rate stability, technical sophistication and true horological excellence.

With a production run of only around 1500 pieces, the Ref. A782 is among the rarest Zenith models ever produced. Far fewer examples have survived the decades in good, authentic condition — making this El Primero a true top-tier collector's watch.

A timepiece for connoisseurs who appreciate the extraordinary and have the confidence to wear color, design and genuine history on the wrist.
