This Baylor Watch Co. chronograph dates back to the 1960s and represents the function-driven watchmaking of its era. The 40 mm case combined with the high-contrast dial gives the watch a strong, sporty presence. The screw-down caseback further emphasizes the robust, tool-watch character of this chronograph.
The dial is clearly and well balanced, offering excellent legibility. The contrasting sub-dials, red accents and finely executed tachymeter and pulsation scales give the watch a lively, sporty appearance. On the wrist, the chronograph wears very present and displays the typical colorful design language of this period.
Inside beats the well-known Valjoux 72 hand-wound movement, a classic column-wheel chronograph caliber valued for its reliability and precise operation. This movement was also used in the manual-wind Rolex Daytona — with the pleasant difference that a Baylor featuring the same caliber can of course be acquired at a far more attractive price point.
Overall, this is a cool vintage chronograph with a proven movement and strong wrist presence — an appealing piece for collectors of classic vintage chronographs.
