Rarity and NOS condition – a dream combination for any vintage collector. This Heuer Autavia 741.603 is a GMT chronograph from the early 1970s and, at the same time, the only manual-wind GMT reference housed in the distinctive cushion-shaped case. The present example is unworn and still retains the original factory sticker on the case back.
The first Autavia GMT models appeared in the second half of the 1960s as manual-wind chronographs with round cases powered by Valjoux movements. From 1969 onward, the automatic Autavias with Caliber 14 were introduced in the newly developed cushion case. However, Heuer also decided to offer a manual-wind GMT in this case design – reference 741.603. It is precisely this unusual combination and its rarity that make it one of the most sought-after Autavia variants today.
The exceptional condition elevates this watch to an entirely different level of collectability. In vintage terminology, this condition is referred to as NOS – New Old Stock. The watch was, in all likelihood, never worn. The original Heuer sticker on the case back is still present and appears flawless.
Visually, this Autavia GMT captivates with its vibrant character: the reverse panda dial with red accents and the bright yellow GMT hand harmonize perfectly with the bi-color 24-hour bezel. A design that impressively combines dynamism with unmistakable 1970s flair.
The watch is powered by the reliable manual-wind Valjoux 7741 movement and is in perfect working condition.
This Heuer Autavia GMT 741.603 offers an exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire an untouched piece of Heuer history.
