Description
Here we offer a striking and sporty vintage chronograph: the Heuer Skipper reference 73464 from the early 1970s. During this period, Heuer was renowned for developing precision timepieces used at prestigious sporting events. The Skipper was specifically designed for regatta timing and sailing competitions, and today remains one of the most distinctive models of the era.

The most notable feature of the Skipper is its large 15-minute regatta counter, divided into three colored segments. The combination of red, white and blue allows participants to easily read the crucial starting phase of a regatta while giving the watch its colorful and unmistakable appearance. This vibrant design has made the Skipper one of the most iconic sports watches of the 1970s.

The example offered here is in excellent overall condition. The beautiful blue dial is clean and free from imperfections. The distinctive cushion-shaped stainless steel case is also very well preserved with crisp, sharp edges. The blue bezel shows light signs of wear, adding an authentic vintage character to the watch.

Inside operates the reliable manual-wind Valjoux 7734 movement with date function — a robust chronograph caliber that was widely used in many sporty Heuer models of the 1970s.

The official reference of the Skipper is 73464. However, the engraving 73463 can be found between the lugs. The reason is historically interesting: no dedicated case was produced specifically for the Skipper. Instead, Heuer used the case of the Autavia reference 73463, which today is considered a typical detail of this model.

This Heuer Skipper 73464 from 1971 combines sporty functionality with an extraordinary design and ranks among the most fascinating regatta chronographs of its time — a characterful vintage watch with strong collector appeal.
