Heuer Autavia 1163 Jo Siffert

The vintage chronograph Heuer Autavia 1163 “Jo Siffert” from the early 1970s represents the golden era of motorsport. The so-called “Siffert Autavia” takes its name from the legendary Formula One driver Jo Siffert, who regularly wore this distinctive panda-dial version featuring the characteristic date window at 6 o’clock. Today, this model enjoys a special cult status among collectors and motorsport enthusiasts.

During its production period, six different dial variations of the Siffert Autavia were produced. The example offered here is fitted with the final MK6 dial. This version is characterized by blue accents in the hands and indexes, as well as the numbered 12-hour counter, which gives the watch its unmistakable appearance.

The dial presents itself in immaculate and clean condition. It is complemented by an excellent case and a perfectly preserved tachymeter bezel.

Another highlight is the rare Gay Frères beads-of-rice bracelet, stamped 4/71. This highly collectible bracelet is perfectly period-correct for the watch and completes the overall appearance of this chronograph beautifully.

Inside operates the Heuer automatic caliber 11i, an improved version of the legendary caliber 11. Beneath one of the lugs, a small triangle hallmark can be found — a typical detail of automatic Autavia models fitted with the caliber 11i.

Overall, this is a rare and 100% correct collector’s piece that perfectly embodies the motorsport spirit of the 1970s.
