This beautiful LeCoultre Triple Calendar reference 2721 from the 1950s is among the early executions of this complication.
The watch was specifically produced for the American market and is therefore signed "LeCoultre" – a designation that reflects the historical marketing of these models in the United States.
The dial displays date, day and month, all rendered in red and in English language. A particularly charming detail is the central date hand with its red triangular tip, elegantly pointing to the outer date track. Applied Arabic numerals and finely faceted triangular indices add depth and refinement to the dial. Overall, the dial appears very harmonious and offers excellent legibility.
The case stands out with its elegantly sculpted teardrop lugs, giving the watch a distinctive silhouette. Viewed from the side, the case reveals finely stepped flanks, adding a subtle architectural depth and further elegance to the design.
Correctors are integrated into the case flank: the upper pusher adjusts the month, while the lower pusher sets the date. The weekday is set via the crown by advancing the time past midnight.
With a diameter of 36 mm, this watch was exceptionally large and rare for its time and still offers perfectly balanced proportions by today’s standards.
The deep and well-preserved gold hallmarks underline the outstanding condition of this approximately 80-year-old watch.
Inside, the watch is powered by the caliber P484, a movement that, according to reports, was produced in very limited numbers of around 400 pieces between 1943 and 1944. This makes the watch not only aesthetically appealing but also historically significant.
