This exceptional Breitling Bullhead reference 7101 from 1971 stands out with its bold, avant-garde design and is presented in excellent overall condition.
It owes its distinctive nickname “Bullhead” to the unusual placement of the chronograph pushers. Rather than being positioned on the side as seen in most chronographs, they are located on the top of the case, resembling the horns of a bull. This configuration was intentionally designed to improve usability – particularly in motorsport, where quick and intuitive timekeeping is essential.
Equally striking is the asymmetrical wedge-shaped stainless steel case: slimmer towards the bottom and more pronounced at the top, giving the watch a dynamic presence on the wrist. The functional design is further enhanced by a rotating bezel with hour and minute scale.
The dial is a true highlight, featuring a captivating interplay of warm brown tones ranging from nougat to cappuccino and caramel. The combination of a tachymeter scale and a bold red pulsations scale emphasizes the instrument-like character of the watch. Bright orange accents appear in the hands as well as in the white subdials, creating a vibrant yet perfectly balanced overall aesthetic. The date window with its red numeral integrates seamlessly into this carefully composed color scheme.
Inside, the watch is powered by the reliable hand-wound Breitling caliber 7740, known for its robustness and dependable performance.
