This Eberhard Pre Extra Fort from the 1940s combines a number of features that are already extremely rare on their own – yet nearly impossible to find united in one watch.
With a diameter of 40 mm, this piece stands well outside the norm for its era, a size typically reserved for military chronographs in steel. An example crafted in pink gold is highly unusual in this context. These two factors alone – size and material – clearly set this watch apart from the majority of known Pre Extra Fort models. Adding to this is the elaborately constructed case with its side-hinged opening back.
The salmon dial represents another key point of distinction. Combined with a telemeter scale and the rare snail tachymeter scale, it forms a dial configuration that ranks among the most sought-after variations within the Pre Extra Fort line.
Particularly noteworthy is the condition: this example is presented in New Old Stock condition, meaning unworn and free of signs of use. For chronographs from this period, such a condition is unmatched.
The combination of large case size, pink gold execution, hinged caseback, rare dial configuration, and remarkable NOS condition makes this watch a unqiue collector’s piece – further enhanced by the presence of its original Eberhard box, which is itself very rare.
