Heuer Carrera 1153 Wide Markers

This Heuer Carrera reference 1153S from the 1970s is among the most iconic motorsport chronographs of its era and perfectly embodies the spirit of classic racing. Particularly noteworthy is the exceptionally well-preserved, nearly flawless dial, which makes this watch especially attractive from a collector’s perspective.

Designed as a functional chronograph for racing drivers and sports car enthusiasts, the Carrera continues to impress today with its excellent legibility and sporty elegance. Reference 1153 was produced only between 1969 and 1974 and is accordingly rare.

The Carrera owes its historical significance to the legendary automatic chronograph caliber 11 – one of the first automatic chronograph movements in watchmaking history. The present example is powered by its improved successor, the caliber 12.

This example is particularly attractive with its perfectly preserved silver sunburst dial and contrasting grey subdials. It is the so-called third execution dial with the characteristic wide hour markers with black inserts as well as the striking orange chronograph hand – a very attractive configuration.

The perfectly proportioned 38 mm stainless steel case gives the watch a modern yet classic presence on the wrist. These balanced proportions are precisely what make the automatic Carrera one of the most popular vintage daily wear watches to this day.

The watch is completed by its original Gay-Frères stainless steel bracelet, which in itself is already rare and highly sought after among collectors.
