The Vetta Subacqueo ranks among the rarest and at the same time one of the coolest dive watches of the late 1960s. Its legendary Super Compressor case, beautiful blue sunburst dial, and internal rotating dive bezel give it a truly distinctive character.
The 36 mm stainless steel case was manufactured by Ervin Piquerez S.A. (EPSA) and belongs to the famous Super Compressor family. This patented case construction ranks among the most important innovations in 1960s dive watch engineering. Unlike conventional waterproof cases, its sealing performance increased as water pressure rose. The internal rotating dive bezel is operated via the upper crown at 2 o'clock. Inside the case back, the original Super Compressor stamping with the corresponding patent numbers is still present, along with the date code "10-67", indicating production in October 1967.
Without doubt, the highlight of the watch is its beautiful blue sunburst dial. Depending on the light, it shifts between a deep navy blue and a subtle violet hue, creating remarkable depth and visual appeal. The applied hour markers retain their original tritium lume, which has developed a warm, even patina that perfectly matches the original tritium-filled hands.
Inside beats the proven ETA caliber 2451, a 25-jewel automatic movement renowned for its reliability and robustness.
The watch is fitted with an exotic vintage stainless steel bracelet from the 1960s. Its striking X-shaped link design complements the watch perfectly and further enhances its authentic vintage character.
For collectors of original vintage dive watches, this Vetta Subacqueo offers a highly appealing combination of a legendary Super Compressor case and a beautifully preserved original dial. A charming alternative to the far better-known Super Compressor models from the major Swiss brands.
