Vetta Allongée Sculptural 1970s Design

An extraordinary vintage timepiece that is sure to amaze even experienced watch collectors. This Vetta Allongée from around 1970 is anything but an ordinary wristwatch. With its spectacular 55 × 25 mm case made of 800 silver, its dramatically curved shape, and its minimalist dial, it perfectly embodies the experimental design spirit of its era. The elongated rectangular case is crafted from solid 800 silver, as confirmed by the corresponding “0.800” hallmark on the caseback. Measuring an impressive 55 mm in length, the watch features remarkable proportions, yet its pronounced curvature allows it to sit harmoniously on the wrist. The crystal follows the same curve, further emphasizing the unusual construction. The broad, sculpturally shaped case frame gives the watch a striking presence, while its flowing contours create an almost sculptural appearance. Alongside the silver hallmark, the caseback bears the engraving “MOD. DEP.”, indicating a registered design, as well as the case number.

The original silver-colored dial features a fine vertical satin finish and a remarkably minimalist design. Particularly characteristic are the unusually long black hour markers at 12 and 6 o’clock, complemented by narrow horizontal markers along both sides. The simple black hands and discreet Vetta signature blend harmoniously into the overall design. A small “SWISS MADE” signature appears at the very bottom of the dial. The dial is preserved in excellent condition, retaining its original surface texture.

The overall state of preservation further adds to the appeal of this example. The silver case displays an authentic patina developed over decades, with light oxidation marks, while its distinctive shape and contours remain beautifully preserved. Particularly noteworthy is the nearly flawless dial, whose clean lines and fine satin finish have retained their original appearance to this day.
