This cool Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Snowdrop Reference E877 is a true child of the 1970s – an era when the Swiss watch industry explored new directions with bold designs and technical innovations. With its large, round stainless steel case, black dial, and unusual metal bracelet with black inserts, it perfectly captures the unmistakable charm of this experimental period. A watch that was ahead of its time and continues to impress with its distinctive appearance more than half a century later.
The history of the Memovox dates back to the early 1950s, when Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced its first mechanical wristwatches with an alarm function. Introduced in the early 1970s, the Snowdrop is one of the most unusual models in this long-established collection. Its approximately 43 mm stainless steel case has no traditional lugs and features a so-called monocoque construction, with the movement inserted from the dial side. Inside beats the automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 916, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. The desired alarm time can be set using the rotating disc in the center of the dial.
The original black dial features a distinctive concentric design, applied hour markers, and a finely graduated silver-colored ring. The date window is positioned at 3 o'clock. The dial is preserved in very beautiful condition and still retains its original Tritium luminous dots. Another interesting feature is the original stainless steel bracelet with black inserts and the matching Jaeger-LeCoultre folding clasp. Its design perfectly complements the shape of the case and emphasizes the characteristic look of the Snowdrop.
With its unusual design, mechanical alarm movement, and matching original metal bracelet, this Jaeger-LeCoultre Snowdrop is a fascinating example of the experimental watchmaking designs of the 1970s. A vintage watch full of character, combining technical sophistication and period design in its own distinctive way.
