Piaget is one of the few Swiss watch manufacturers that has successfully combined traditional watchmaking with exceptional jewellery design. The elegant and extravagant creations of the 1970s through the 1990s, in particular, have retained their distinctive appeal to this day. This beautiful Piaget Polo Reference 8163 from around 1995 is a fascinating example. With its deep blue lapis lazuli dial, exceptionally designed case crafted from solid 18k white gold and elegant proportions, it perfectly embodies the unmistakable design language of the Swiss manufacture.
The absolute highlight of this watch is undoubtedly its genuine lapis lazuli dial. The intensely blue natural stone, with its individual patterns and textures, gives each watch a unique character. Particularly attractive is the unusual design featuring vertical white gold elements that visually divide the dial while creating a harmonious connection with the case. The understated white gold Dauphine hands blend perfectly into the elegant overall appearance. The rectangular case measures 25 × 27 mm and is exceptionally slim, with a thickness of just 5 mm. Inside beats the reliable Piaget quartz calibre 8P.
The condition of this Piaget is equally impressive. The delicate lapis lazuli dial is preserved in excellent condition, while the white gold case shows only minor signs of wear consistent with its age. The original engravings and gold hallmarks on the caseback are fully preserved and clearly visible. Completing the watch is a black leather strap fitted with its original Piaget pin buckle in 18k white gold.
An exceptionally elegant vintage Piaget that stands out through its combination of precious materials, distinctive design and excellent condition. A special timepiece for collectors who appreciate individual and characterful vintage watches.
