Rolex GMT Master 1675/3 Nipple Dial

early rare model - fantastic design - matching oyster bracelet

The special feature of this Rolex GMT Master 1675/3 is the nipple dial and the rare oyster bracelet. What makes this watch an absolute rarity.

In the 1950s, when travel across continents became possible for the first time, Rolex introduced its first GMT Master. This watch showed two different time zones, one in the 24-hour bezel via an extra hand. Before the GMT was available on the open market, it was issued to the pilots of the PAN-AM Airlines. The first models had stainless steel cases. At the end of the sixties, the first steel Two-Tone variant came out.

The very special thing about this watch is undoubtedly the impressive look. The combination of the beautiful brown color of the dial and the steel-gold oyster bracelet speaks for itself. The dial is also called "Nipple Dial", due to the raised indexes with gold border. It is in perfect condition. At 12 o'clock a little discoloration is visible. The matching original Oyster bracelet with the reference number 7836 and endlinks Ref. 280 are in a very good condition.

Is this GMT master a collectors-watch?
Franz Roman:
"By now yes - today brown is absolutely cool and sought after. About 10 to 15 years ago, the steel-gold GMT was mostly in demand by women. The GMT-Master enjoys lately great interest and thus the price rises."

What is so special about the watch offered here?
Franz Roman:
"The early 2.8 million serial number tells us that this is one of the first steel-gold executions. Another special feature many even experienced watch enthusiasts are unaware of are the endlinks. These are not two-tone, but just steel. However, an advice for any collector is: if you have the budget, you should always prefer a 4-digit reference number with plexiglas to a 5-digit sapphire crystal. The earlier models were, are and remain the most sought after watches."
