Description
The movement of this Longines 6474 is often referred to as one of the best chronograph movements of all time. It's the legendary manual wound Caliber 30CH from Longines with a flyback complication.

This particular example dates from 1953 and is the extremely rare MK1 version of the reference 6474. In contrast to the later version, the MK1 has an unsigned crown, an unsigned case back and smaller chrono pushers. Today only 5 pieces of the MK1 version are known, making this Longines an ultimate collector's item. Follow this link to see the later version of this Longines chronograph from 1960.

The natural aging of the dial is absolutely breathtaking. The warm patina gives the watch a real vintage character. The hour numerals and the hands still have the original radium lume, which can be proved with the Geiger counter (see pictures).

The large 38mm case was rather untypical for the 50s. Today, on the other hand, the big diameter enjoys great popularity. The elegant stainless steel case with a stepped bezel is excellently preserved. Considering the age of 67 years, the condition of this Longines watch is simply incredible. The flyback complication of the caliber 30CH works perfectly. The chronograph can be reset and restarted immediately with the lower pusher.

The excerpt from the Longines archive confirms that this watch was sold to Longines-Wittnauer Watch Co. on November 26, 1953. This company was the official Longines retailer in the US. In addition, the watch is accompanied by the following accessories:
- original blue Longines box
- original hang tag with the sale price of $100.
