This is a special Patek Philippe Ref. 2586 in yellow gold from the 1950s. Besides its almost unworn condition, this vintage Calatrava fascinates with its unusual yellow gold bracelet.
The originality of this Calatrava is confirmed by the Patek Philippe archive extract: The watch was produced in 1956 and sold on June 17, 1957. In addition to its rarity, this example stands out for its excellent case and dial condition. The solid 18c case is unpolished and shows signs of oxidation. The latter is by no means to be considered a flaw, as it is very easy to remove the discoloration. Rather, the tarnish is an indication that the watch has been stored in a safe for a long time, worn very rarely and was never polished.
The 70-year-old Calatrava owes its elegant and balanced appearance to the beautiful cream dial with gold dauphine hands and baton-shaped hour markers. Another fine nuance is the minute track on the dial edge.
A highlight in itself is the exceptional and ultra-rare 18k yellow gold mesh bracelet. It bears no Patek Philippe engravings, only the "18k" gold hallmark. Also, according to the PP Archive, this watch was not delivered with a gold bracelet, but with a leather strap. However, after a closer look, you will notice how precisely the bracelet is fitted to the lug width and to the shape of the watch case. Therefore, it is very likely that this gold bracelet was made exactly for this watch.
An original black Patek Philippe box from the 1950s is also part of the accessories of this Calatrava.
