The reason why the 2586 is one of the most impressive Patek Philippe references is mainly its rarity and classic design with a perfectly balanced dial, dauphine-shaped hands and twisted lugs. What makes this particular watch even more special is its museum-quality near-unworn condition. Moreover, the watch comes with an ultra-rare gold bracelet, an original Patek Philippe box and excerpt from the archive.
The originality of this Calatrava is confirmed by the Patek Philippe archive extract: The watch was produced in 1956 and sold on June 17, 1957. In addition to its rarity, this example stands out for its excellent case and dial condition. The solid 18c case is unpolished and shows signs of oxidation. The latter is by no means to be considered a flaw, as it is very easy to remove the discoloration. Rather, the tarnish is an indication that the watch has been stored in a safe for a long time, worn very rarely and was never polished.
The 70-year-old Calatrava owes its elegant and balanced appearance to the beautiful cream dial with gold dauphine hands and baton-shaped hour markers. Another fine nuance is the minute track on the dial edge.
A true highlight in itself is the extraordinary and ultra-rare 18k yellow gold mesh bracelet. While it does not carry a Patek Philippe signature – only the "18k" gold hallmark – the PP archive confirms that this watch originally left the manufacture on a leather strap. However, a closer look reveals how precisely the bracelet has been crafted to match both the lug width and the curvature of the case. This exceptional level of integration strongly suggests that the bracelet was specially commissioned at the time of purchase, most likely as a bespoke creation by Patek Philippe for the original owner. Far from diminishing the watch, this detail underscores its rarity and unique character, adding further historical and collector's value.
An original black Patek Philippe box from the 1950s is also part of the accessories of this Calatrava.
