The Omega CK 2077 from the 1940s ranks among the most significant references in Omega’s history – and the example shown here represents an entirely different league within this iconic family. It is an exceptionally early and extraordinarily rare variant with a blue dial – most likely a unique piece. The unusual, almost experimental dial design gives the watch a distinctly modern appearance.
Originally developed in the late 1930s, the CK 2077 was Omega’s first waterproof chronograph. Its screw-down caseback, round pushers and the striking step case with a 39 mm diameter were revolutionary for their time – a size far ahead of the era’s standards, and one that defines the character of this watch today. Among collectors, the CK2077-2 is regarded as one of the most coveted and rare Omega steel chronographs ever made.
Particularly captivating are the special multi-tone dials, produced only in very small numbers. This example belongs definitely to that highly sought-after category: a deep blue dial paired with a yellow tachymeter scale, white chapter ring and finely executed sub-dials. The mirrored-looking yellow scales give the watch an unexpectedly contemporary, graphic aesthetic.
Inside beats the legendary Omega Caliber 33.3, one of the most important chronograph movements of the 1930s and 40s. Valued for its reliability and precision in military use, it is considered the direct predecessor to the later Caliber 321 – the movement that would go on to power the famous Moonwatch.
The watch is completed by its outstanding overall condition: an unpolished case with crisp edges and a remarkably well-preserved, original dial. An extremely rare CK 2077-2 – and without question one of the most exciting known examples of this historically important reference.
