This colorful Fortis Marinemaster 6237 is a diving watch from the 1970s, which is preserved in an almost unworn NOS condition.
The complicated dial shows the decompression table in red, orange, white and black color. The watch has a date window at 6 o'clock. The unusual hand set consists of a red minute hand, a steel hour hand and a lollipop second hand. The tritium luminous material is original and intact in all hands and hour markers.
This Fortis Marinemaster features a super compressor case, which was designed by Ervin Pequerez. With increasing depth, the case is pressed against the seal and thus waterproofness of the case increases. The Fortis Marinemaster 6237 has two crowns. The time is set with the crown at 4 o'clock and the inner bezel can be turned with the crown at 2 o'clock. Both crowns have cross hatching pattern, which can also be seen on other super-compressor watches such as the
Longines Diver 7150-1.
The outstanding condition of this Fortis makes it a very special and rare vintage piece. This watch has been on the wrist only a few times and still bears the original seal on the caseback. Behind the seal you can see the EPSA diving helmet logo and the engravings of the model name and the reference number 6237. The case and the dial are in mint condition. The watch is powered by the ETA 2472 automatic movement, which runs flawlessly. The engraving 4-70 (fourth quarter 1970) can be seen inside the case cover.
This Marinemaster is accompanied by the original Fortis leather strap, which stills has the inscription "Fortis - Made In Switzerland". This is absolutely exceptional as the leather straps usually wear out very quickly. This also suggests that this watch was hardly ever worn.
This Fortis Marinemaster 6237 is a NOS (New Old Stock) watch with an outstanding vintage design from the 1970s.
